William Reimer was a well-known figure in the municipality of North Norfolk, affectionately referred to by many residents as “Water Bill.” In fact, he often introduced himself by that nickname. During a time when out-of-town residents depended on wells or cisterns for water, Water Bill was the go-to person for hauling the much-needed supply to their homes and livestock. In town, he was equally relied upon to fill swimming pools and hot tubs.
Beyond his water-hauling work, Bill was always ready to lend a hand. He tilled gardens, mowed lawns, and helped with snow removal for many in the community. Known for his tireless work ethic, Bill diligently saved for the future while enjoying simple pleasures, such as gathering with friends at the local restaurant. He was a familiar sight around town, often driving his truck with a water tank in the back, always offering a friendly wave to passersby.
Bill also had a passion for collecting die-cast models, particularly replicas of vintage farm equipment, which reflected his love of history and craftsmanship.
He will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. Through his incredible generosity, Bill ensured his legacy would live on. Upon his passing, he made a substantial donation to the North Norfolk Foundation Inc., designating it to be invested so the interest could be reinvested into the community annually. This ongoing support will enhance and uplift the town for generations to come. Thanks to his thoughtful gift, Bill’s name and contributions will remain a lasting part of the community’s history, continuing to benefit its residents far into the future.
